Freedom Fest season is here, and around Tekamah, that means one thing. The best time of the year is almost here.
Freedom Fest 2026 is shaping up to be another great Fourth of July celebration in Tekamah, with events happening July 2 through July 4 and plenty of chances for the whole community to get involved. This year’s theme is Stars, Stripes & Small Town Vibes, a perfect fit for a hometown celebration as America marks 250 years.
Every year, Freedom Fest brings neighbors, families, local businesses, and visitors together to celebrate everything that makes Tekamah special. From community events and family activities to the parade, fireworks, and local traditions, it is one of those weekends that people look forward to all year long.
Planning is already underway, and the Chamber is encouraging businesses, organizations, and community groups to be part of the fun. If your group is planning a meal, fundraiser, kids activity, open house, entertainment, or another community event during Freedom Fest week, now is the time to reach out so it can be included in the 2026 Freedom Fest agenda and flyer.
One of the biggest highlights of the weekend, as always, is the Freedom Fest Parade. If you have a float, business entry, youth group, or entertainment act, now is a great time to get registered. The parade is one of Nebraska’s favorite small-town Fourth of July traditions, and every year it brings plenty of creativity, hometown pride, and community spirit to Main Street. Awards will be given for Best of Show, Best Youth Entry, Best Business Entry, and Best Entertainment Entry.
Another fun way to join in this year is the town-wide Freedom Fest Decorating Contest. Businesses and residents are invited to dress up their storefronts, doors, windows, yards, and homes in patriotic style and help turn Tekamah red, white, and blue. Decorations should be up from July 2 through July 5, with judging taking place July 2 through July 6. Winners will be announced on July 8, with Chamber Bucks prizes awarded for first, second, and third place.
Beyond the parade and decorating contest, Freedom Fest weekend is packed with community favorites. The event flyer includes a full lineup of activities across the holiday weekend, including local meals, shopping specials, a pet parade, 5K events, softball, live community activities, and the July 3 fireworks show that so many families look forward to each year.
What makes Freedom Fest special is not just the schedule. It is the feeling of the whole town coming together.
